Okay, so I didn't participate in the 5 miler last Saturday. I'm really bummed and disappointed in myself. I was tempted to give up this ruse of becoming a runner since I wasn't making the progress I expected due to my inconsistent training. But then I thought about it. I'm not going to let this get me down. I'm still determined to become a runner and to run a 5k. Come hell or high water.
I went to the gym this morning and ran a little. I've realized a break - no matter how short - is detrimental to my training. I can't afford to take too many consecutive days off. It's a constant setback. So my training schedule is going to be this: Run/walk every other day for 20-25 minutes (50% runnning with 50% walking to start) and build up from there. Hopefully this will help me with staying consistent so I won't feel like a failure.
